Ouagadougou: Classes at Zongo B Primary School in Ouagadougou resumed on Wednesday, marking the official start of the 2025-2026 school year. “The start of the school year is underway, as you can see. We’ve welcomed the students, set up the classrooms, and you already know what happened next: we’re starting to work,” said Christiane Zougmore, a certified teacher and representative of the first educational manager at Zongo B School.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the reopening was met with satisfaction from both educators and parents. Ms. Mounira Triande, a teacher at the school, expressed her joy at the commencement of the academic year and hoped for a peaceful and successful year ahead. Parents shared similar sentiments, expressing a mix of relief and expectations for the new school term.
Charlotte Zongo, a parent of a fourth-grade student, shared her emotional response to the reopening. “We are happy, we are all happy,” she said, expressing hopes for health, strength, and wisdom for the children as they embark on a new year of learning. Her sentiments were echoed by students like Cisse Ibrahim, a CE2 student, who expressed eagerness to reunite with friends and a determination to excel in subjects like math with aspirations of becoming a doctor.
Despite the challenges faced, local authorities and communities have intensified efforts to ensure educational access for students across the country.
