“The choice of Morocco as the first Arab and African country to host this global conference reflects the progress made by the Kingdom in promoting adult education and lifelong learning,” said Benmoussa at a press briefing held on the sidelines of the opening of this international conference in Marrakech.

In this context, he said that this conference is an ideal opportunity to strengthen South-South cooperation through a series of workshops that are organized on this occasion, in line with the African vocation of the Kingdom.

This conclave, which continues until June 17, is also an opportunity to accelerate the reforms initiated at the national and regional levels in the field of adult education and lifelong learning, said Benmoussa.

In this respect, he recalled that Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has initiated a series of reforms in the education and training sectors for several years.

In this sense, Benmoussa highlighted Morocco’s commitment, as part of its New Development Model, to give priority to the education sector, science and culture, whose promotion is an important lever to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Minister also noted that the CONFINTEA VII is an opportunity to develop a new roadmap “the Marrakech Action Plan”, calling on all parties concerned to renew their commitment to the development of adult education and lifelong learning in the service of the SDGs by 2030.
