Bobo-Dioulasso: The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré gave Saturday evening at the Sangoulé Lamizana stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso, the 3 gong sounds marking the opening of the 21st of the National Culture Week (SNC) Bobo 2024, noted the AIB on site in the Burkinabe economic capital.

It was under the well-fed ovations of the numerous public in Bobo-Dioulasso and elsewhere that the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré gave the three gong sounds for the start of the SNC festivities. Before this solemn act, President Traoré arrived at the Sangoulé Lamizana stadium under a military escort.

He took a lap of the track in his pick-up to salute the mobilization of the populations of the city of Sya, other localities in Burkina Faso and sister countries. Room was then made for the choreographic troupes of Oumar Démé and Yaya Sanou for their life-size performance.

This service reflected all the relational facets of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) for the development of the three coun
tries (Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger) that make it up.

The Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Arts and Tourism Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo who read the opening speech of the SNC on behalf of the President of Faso, underlined that ‘four decades after its launch in 1983, National Culture Week continues to generate great enthusiasm among cultural actors and still enjoys a large audience with the public.

‘Over the years, this event has built a brand image to position itself as one of the major cultural events in the West African sub-region. This ever-growing enthusiasm is proof that the SNC deserves our full attention, both for the justice of its cause and for the nobility of its ambitions,’ he added.

For Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, ‘the regular holding of this cultural event is an affirmation of the desire of the Burkinabè State to make culture a factor of unity, a forum for promoting creativity and a framework for expression and dissemination of the cultural mosaic of our dear country’.

The SNC
takes place from April 27 to May 4 in Bobo-Dioulasso.
