Candidacies of regional council members for district councils to be submitted on March 7-8 (ISIE Spox)


Candidacies of regional council members for district councils will be submitted on March 7-8, announced spokesperson for the Independent High Authority for Elections (French: ISIE) Mohamed Tlili Mansri.

Elections for these councils’ members are scheduled for March 13, he added.

Mansri further indicated that these deadlines, set after the regional councils had been set up, also covered the examination of candidatures and disputes brought before the Administrative Court, in accordance with the timetable set by ISIE.

The regional councils are due to be set up on March 6 in all governorates, Mansri said, adding that the headquarters of the governorate will be the headquarters of these councils where all the logistical means have been provided.

According to Mansri, regional meetings between members of ISIE and local councils in the five districts have been scheduled for Tuesday, to discuss the forthcoming stages, especially the elections of the members of the district councils and the members of the National C
ouncil of Regions and Districts.

Meetings of district council members and the taking up of theior duties will take place in one of the district governorates every six months.

The Tunisian territory is made of 5 districts:

-District n°1: Bizerte, Beja, Jendouba and Kef.

-District n°2: Tunis, Ariana, Ben Arous, Zaghouan, Manouba and Nabeul

-District n°3: Siliana, Sousse, Kasserine, Kairouan, Monastir and Mahdia

-District n°4: Tozeur, Sidi Bouzid, Sfax and Gafsa

-District n°5: Tataouine, Gabes, Kebili and Mednine.
