Casablanca: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled its new logo and innovative trophy for the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (U-17 AFCON), set to commence on March 30 in Casablanca, Morocco.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this presentation marks a significant step in introducing a fresh identity for the tournament, which will run until April 19.
The newly revealed trophy, titled “The Journey Begins,” symbolizes ambition and progression, capturing the essence of young African talents embarking on their path to becoming football legends. Its design features a road-like structure symbolizing the players’ journey, integrated into the map of Africa, highlighting the continent’s pride and unity. The logo echoes the shape of the trophy, including its base, which represents the support and guidance provided by CAF to nurture the next generation of African stars.
This tournament will also serve as a qualifying event for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, with ten African teams participating in this expanded edition to be held in Qatar later this year. The teams are divided into four groups:
GROUP A consists of Morocco (host country), Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia. GROUP B includes Burkina Faso, Cameroon, South Africa, and Egypt. GROUP C features Senegal, Gambia, Somalia, and Tunisia. GROUP D comprises Mali, Angola, Ivory Coast, and the Central African Republic.
