Burkinabe Nation Honors Alino Faso, Patriot and Cultural Icon

Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe nation paid tribute on Thursday to Alain Christophe Traor©, alias Alino Faso, a committed patriot and man of culture, who died on July 24, 2025, in C´te d’Ivoire, under unclear circumstances.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the people of Burkina Faso gathered on the evening of Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the National Center for Performing and Audiovisual Arts (CENASA) in Ouagadougou, to honor the memory of Alino Faso, who died in his cell on July 24, 2025, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This emotional tribute ceremony took place in the presence of several cultural figures, fellow activists, as well as relatives and friends of Alain Christophe Traor©, known as Alino Faso.

On this occasion, several musical artists kept the audience in suspense. Many came out to pay tribute to the memory of the illustrious deceased. “It’s truly sad. We didn’t know Alino would leave us so soon. He is an important figure in our culture, a great volunteer for all events and for all those involved. Much strength to Alino’s family and to the cultural family. May the land of Burkina be light on him,” said Alif Naaba, Burkinabe musician and cultural entrepreneur.

“This evening, it is the world of culture that paid tribute to Alino Faso, quite simply because he was a major player who knew how to showcase all our cultural riches,” added Rassa Compar©, a very close friend of the deceased.

The family’s representative, Seydou Traor©, welcomed this evening of tribute to Alino Faso and hoped that justice would be done. Let us recall that Alino Faso was arrested on January 10, 2025, in Ivory Coast and found dead on July 24, 2025, in his cell in a gendarmerie school. Burkina Faso, which rejected the suicide theory put forward by the Ivorian justice system, promised that his death would not go unpunished.
