The National Union of Secular Education Establishments (UNEPEL) offered, on Wednesday, 2,306 places, worth 409 million 170 thousand 100 FCFA, for four school years, to students internally displaced. She also presented a check for 3 million FCFA.

“We have come to support the effort of the Ministry in charge of Education in the integration of internally displaced students with 2,306 school places worth 409 million 170 thousand 100 FCFA and a check for 3,000,000 CFA francs in in order to deal with the emergency,” said the president of the National Union of Secular Education Establishments, Benoît Illy.

According to him, these places give free access to displaced students for a period of 4 years. This will allow them to go to school even if their parents cannot afford it.

Mr. Illy informed that this collection was possible thanks to the involvement of all the 1,500 members who make up UNEPL.

Benoît Illy spoke on Wednesday August 24, 2023, in Ouagadougou, during the presentation of the donation to the Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Joseph André Ouédraogo.

“2306 school places is huge. This act shows that you are not common traders. You are Burkinabés worthy of the name. This is why I bow to your generosity”, rejoiced the minister.

Joseph André Ouédraogo congratulated the members of the UNEPL for their resilience despite the understaffing they record within their establishments and renewed the government’s commitment to support them.

“We want you to help us raise awareness about the port of Faso Dan Fani. Wearing it every Monday when the flag is raised is a patriotic act that will contribute to bringing Burkina Faso out of the war and better freeing it from servitude. These are small steps but they will mark young minds,” he added.

The Minister also reminded the actors not to exclude a child for non-compliance with wearing the outfit. “It’s not our philosophy. Burkinabés must consciously adhere to this national cause”.
