Burkina: The government announces ‘drastic’ reductions in certain medical examinations and procedures


Ouagadougou: The Burkinabè government announced on Wednesday the drastic reduction from the end of April in certain medical examinations and procedures.

According to the Minister of Health Dr Lucien Robert Kargougou who spoke at the end of the council of ministers, by the end of April, no patient will no longer pay 500 thousand FCFA to be included in the line of people needing dialysis.

Also, patients who need three dialysis sessions per week will no longer pay anything for these sessions.

Patients who need hemodialysis will now pay 2,500 FCFA per session compared to 15,000 FCFA previously.

By the end of April, the cost of the MRI exam will drop from 100 thousand to 40 thousand FCFA.

The scanner which costs on average 50 thousand will be billed at 25 thousand FCFA.
