Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Public Health received a significant donation of IT equipment from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) valued at 51,557,000 FCFA. This donation aims to bolster the capabilities of regional health directorates and enhance the health sector’s infrastructure.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the official award ceremony took place with key figures in attendance, including Dr. Jo«l Arthur Kiendreb©ogo, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Kenneth Ehouzou, the Deputy Resident Representative of UNFPA, and Tina Guthrie, the Ambassador of Canada. The donation comprises IT equipment, peripherals, and office supplies, and is designed to improve the administrative performance of health structures, particularly in reproductive health and the protection of women and girls.
Dr. Kiendreb©ogo highlighted the significance of the donation, stating that it strengthens the collaboration and commitment to enhancing the health system. He underscored the importance of digitalization for better planning, rigorous monitoring, and effective evaluation of health activities.
The UNFPA representative noted that the tools provided, such as computers and appointment management systems, will significantly improve patient reception and medical data management. Ambassador Guthrie pointed out that this initiative is part of the PROSSEC Project, which aims to enhance access to reproductive health services, civil status, and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
This gesture reflects a strategic partnership between UNFPA, Canada, and the Burkinabe Ministry of Health, supporting an inclusive, efficient, and resilient health system.
