Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Ouedraogo Addresses Burkinabe Community in U.S.: “We Didn’t Come to the United States to Beg”

New york: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo met with the Burkinabe community living in the United States on Saturday, September 27, discussing various topics affecting the life of the Burkinabe nation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted the sacrifice of the FDS and their commitment, which has led to the reorganization and strengthening of the army. This was made possible through the mobilization of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), resulting in notable successes in securing the territory and improving living conditions in Burkina Faso.

“Today, on the security front, there has been great progress. We are moving towards a certain and promising victory,” he declared. Ouedraogo also emphasized efforts in the agricultural sector, stressing the importance of water management for achieving food security. The Prime Minister announced an expected 15% increase in cereal production this year, reaching more than 7 million tonnes.

Initiatives in livestock farming, including subsidized vaccination campaigns, are underway. In education, the presidential initiative aims to enhance the system with a focus on science and technology, aiming to foster innovation and practical solutions for national challenges.

On the health front, nearly 12% of the national budget is allocated to healthcare, with reduced costs for medical tests and the removal of a significant deposit for dialysis patients. “The 500,000 CFA franc deposit required from dialysis patients has been eliminated,” Ouedraogo announced, receiving applause from attendees.

The Faso Mebo initiative was discussed, aiming to develop infrastructure to support production areas and the reclamation of territory. Roads are crucial to supporting fighters and facilitating development in marginalized areas.

Referring to the People’s Progressive Revolution (RPP), the Prime Minister called for resistance against injustice and insecurity. “We didn’t come to the United States to beg. We left the dynamic of reaching out,” he stated. He noted Burkina Faso’s natural resources, highlighting gold collection surpassing 36 tons by early September 2025.

Ouedraogo assured ongoing efforts to simplify investment procedures for Burkinabe nationals and the diaspora. Free visas for African nationals are part of a pan-African vision, demonstrating Burkina Faso’s hospitality.

Finally, addressing the autopsy of Alino Faso, he expressed hope for truth and justice. The Burkinabe diaspora in the United States welcomed the initiative and expressed support for the Popular Progressive Revolution.
