Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of digital transition, Kisito Traoré, announced on Tuesday that the 19th edition of Digital Week will be held from November 12 to 15, 2024, in Ouagadougou at SIAO, with Mali and Niger as special guest countries. Mali and Niger will be in the spotlight at the 2024 edition of Digital Week, which will actually take place from November 12 to 15, 2024, within the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair, said the president of the national organizing committee and Secretary General of the ministry in charge of digital transition, Kisito Traoré.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the Organizing Committee (PCO) spoke on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, during a press conference. This 2024 edition of Digital Week is held under the theme ‘Digital transformation and economic development: challenges of FinTech’. It is placed under the high patronage of the Prime Minister, Me Appolinaire Kyelem De Tambela.
The PCO emphasized the crucial relevance
of the theme, especially in a global context where financial technologies are redefining economic relations and opening up new opportunities for unbanked populations. “The choice of this theme aims to explore the contribution of these innovations in improving access to financial services, strengthening economic resilience, and promoting financial and social inclusion,” explained Mr. Traoré.
The main objective of this edition is to generate interactions between the players in the digital ecosystem around the issue of digital transformation to meet the requirements of the context of our country, he added. Burkina Faso is facing considerable challenges: the security situation, global financial crises, and international tensions are putting significant pressure on its economy. “In this difficult context, digital transformation appears to be a promising avenue for meeting the basic needs of our fellow citizens,” he noted.
Panels will be organized to facilitate understanding of the theme, he reassured. Several in
novations are also planned for this 19th edition of Digital Week.
