Ouagadougou: After the pilot phase successfully tested in three municipalities of the country, the government authorized this Wednesday the wearing of the Faso Dan Fani in all schools in Burkina Faso, both private and public, from the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
“After the pilot phase of wearing school uniforms in Faso Dan Fani during the 2023-2024 school year in post-primary and secondary education establishments in three (03) urban communes (Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso and Koudougou) and one rural commune (Sabou), it is appropriate to generalize the wearing of school uniforms in Faso Dan Fani in public and private educational establishments in Burkina Faso, the government indicated during a council of ministers this Wednesday.”
The wearing of this outfit will be done at least every Monday and Thursday and will be without constraint, details the government spokesperson minister, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo who adds that the actors of educational structures and the parents of students have the latitude
to organize themselves, to contract freely with the actors of Faso Dan Fani, to choose their pattern and their model by structure or collectively according to the territorial jurisdiction or their belonging to the same umbrella organization.
The wearing of Faso Dan Fani or locally woven loincloth, is promoted and strongly encouraged in public services and during national events.
