Luanda: On the sidelines of the AUDA-NEPAD Summit on Infrastructure Financing in Africa, the Minister of Infrastructure and Rural Development of Burkina Faso, Adama Luc Sorgho, and his delegation engaged in a working session with their Chadian counterpart. This meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss significant integration projects focused on enhancing rail and road corridors, aiming to bolster regional connectivity and economic development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, central to the discussions was the N’Djamena-Niamey-Ouagadougou-Bamako-Dakar corridor, a key axis for cross-border trade and connecting communities. The ministers also revisited the Burkina Faso-Chad railway corridor project, which was initiated in 1998, agreeing on the need to revitalize this initiative. The primary goal is to facilitate mobility, enhance trade, and promote deeper integration among the countries in the Sahel-Saharan region.
A decision was made to establish a Technical Steering Committee to explore the collaboration modalities and mechanisms enabling the cooperation of the various countries involved in this extensive project. The meeting included participation from the European Union and the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), highlighting the interest and support from development partners for this initiative, which promises integration and shared prosperity.
