Burkina/Education: Remedial classes for internally displaced students in Nouna

The basic education constituency of Nouna, province of Kossi in the Boucle du Mouhoun region is organizing remedial classes for the benefit of internally displaced students, from June 12 to October 12, 2023 at the school ”Nouna Center A”.

A total of 350 students benefit from these remedial courses. The students are distributed as follows: 96 students in CP1, 78 in CP2, 58 in CE1, 50 in CE2 and 68 students in CM1.

Classes are held Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The various teachers in charge of the remedial courses benefited from a week-long training in Dédougou. The choice of teachers was made according to a well-defined criterion and they benefit from support of 60,000 FCFA per month.

According to the director, Amadé Ganame, an evaluation is planned at the end of the course to allow the most deserving students to move on to the next class.

According to Mr. Ganame, the students benefit from one meal a day.

Courses are monitored by the management team of the Basic Education District of Nouna (CEB) led by Philippe PARE.

The partners of the Ministry in charge of National Education, in particular the NGO Educo, ESU and the WFP, contribute to the smooth running of the remedial courses with food, school supplies and the support of teachers and canteens.
