Burkina: Customary and traditional practices will be celebrated every May 15


Ouagadougou: The government has established the celebration of customary and traditional practices every May 15, a day declared a public holiday to reaffirm the secularism of the State and to allow traditional religion to regain its place in society.

‘From now on, all days of May 15 will be devoted to the commemoration of our customs and traditions,’ indicated the minutes of the council of ministers on Wednesday.

According to the minister in charge of religious affairs, Emile Zerbo, the decree aims to reaffirm the secularism of the State and allow traditional religion to regain its place in society.

‘May 15 is now declared a public holiday,’ added Mr. Zerbo
