Burkina: Alino Faso’s Mortal Remains Expected in Ouagadougou on Monday

Ouagadougou: The remains of Burkinabe activist Alain Christophe Traoré, also known as Alino Faso, who died in Côte d’Ivoire under unclear circumstances, will be repatriated on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 2:25 p.m. to Ouagadougou International Airport, the government announced Saturday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this repatriation follows joint efforts by the authorities and the Traoré family to ensure that the illustrious deceased receives a “dignified and honourable” funeral. The government has assured that all necessary arrangements will be made for the legal follow-up relating to the suspicious disappearance of Alino Faso.

The government paid tribute to the memory of a “patriot” whose commitment to social causes remains “indelible.” The Burkinabe authorities have called on the population to remain mobilized to reveal the truth in this matter.

As a reminder, Alino Faso was declared dead by “suicide,” according to a press release from the prosecutor of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, dated Ju
ly 27, 2025, while he had been detained in this country since January 2025. Burkina Faso rejects this version and demands full clarification of the matter.
