Burkina: A corn processing factory launches its activities in Tanghin-Dassouri

The Director General for the Promotion of the Rural Economy (DGPER) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ludovic Yigo, launched the activities of the cooperative society on Wednesday in Tanghin-Dassouri Central Corn Processors (SCOOP-CA-TMC).

According to the Director General for the Promotion of the Rural Economy (DGPER) of the Ministry in charge of Agriculture, Ludovic Yigo, the cooperative society should be encouraged because it is engaged in an activity of promotion and transformation of national agricultural products.

For him, the inauguration of the processing unit coincides with the national days of patriotic commitment and citizen participation.

Ludovic Yigo spoke on Wednesday in Tanghin-Dassouri, during the launch of the activities of the Central Corn Processors Cooperative Society (SCOOP-CA-TMC).

‘We salute the efforts of this cooperative society which aims to create added value, anything which will contribute to increasing the employability of women and also creating their economic development,’ he
said.

The president of SCOOP-CA-TMC, Wendlasida Florence Kaboré/Bassono, explained that the factory transforms corn into couscous, lumps of porridge and dèguè, potassium flour for diabetics and juice.

She specified that the members of the cooperative are determined to work because, she explains, the corn sector is one of the priority sectors.

‘We will put our efforts together to conquer the market. We will approach SONAGESS, PAM, CRS, which take corn-based products and even those imported to replace them with our products,’ noted Ms. Bassono.

On the marketing method, the president of SCOOP-CA-TMC, reassured using social networks to achieve this.

Florence Bassono also added that the company is in direct contact with traders for its corn supply.

‘With the VDP system, we see that there are a lot of areas that have been recovered, so it’s easy for us to go to these areas,’ she continued.

She maintained that the company brings together 6 units with around fifteen employees each.

‘We started with 6 perma
nent people. In 2 months we will have 20 people and in 1 year, we will have 40 permanent women,’ mentioned Ms. Bassono.

And to the president of SCOOP-CA-TMC to add that ‘we are going to release 10 tonnes of finished products per day’.

The SCOOP-CA-TMC building was offered by the DGPER and with the support of the PRECA and ASTM project.
