Burkina: 2024 will be the culmination of major development initiatives

Ouagadougou: In his New Year address on Sunday December 31, 2023, the President of the Transition, Ibrahim Traoré reaffirmed his commitment to making 2024 a year of operationalization of several commitments for economic development.

‘In 2024 we must be able to deepen and really implement everything we have started, particularly the presidential initiative for food self-sufficiency and the agro-pastoral offensive of the Ministry of Agriculture.’ he indicated.

These two major initiatives aim to meet the challenge of food self-sufficiency. ‘The dry seasons are underway so that we can approach food self-sufficiency in 2024,’ reassured Captain Traoré.

‘I invite the Burkinabe people to get involved in production wherever you are so that the State can support you and so that we can meet this challenge.’

The President of the Transition also returned to the revival of industrialization and the need to support the ‘valiant traders’ who are fighting to serve our cities and countryside.

‘APEC is already underway. It
will allow us to have a certain number of factories but many initiatives are coming during the year 2024.’

The sanitation of urban centers is also an essential concern. This is why Captain Traoré called for the mobilization of Burkinabe people around the presidential initiative for community development which will make it possible to clean up cities and avoid epidemics such as dengue fever.

‘It will be a question of people taking ownership of this initiative and being able to embark on sanitation and urbanization and ensure that our living environments are even more pleasant so that certain epidemics that we have experienced cannot not resurface. »

Also on December 11, 2023, the President of the Transition called on the Burkinabé to take ownership of the country’s major development projects in order to allow Burkina Faso to be more autonomous and better assert its sovereignty.
