Boulgou : Des journalistes et influenceurs outillés sur l’utilisation de la moustiquaire imprégnée

Journalists and influencers from the Center-South, East and Center-East region had an exchange meeting, Monday July 15, 2024 in Tenkodogo, on the use and maintenance of the long-lasting impregnated mosquito net (LLIN).

The meeting was organized by the Permanent Secretariat for the Elimination of Malaria (SP/PALU), under the chairmanship of the Central-East Regional Director of Health, Dr Issa Guiré.

With the aim of encouraging and generating media productions in favor of the elimination of malaria, a meeting took place on Monday July 15, 2024 in Tenkodogo, between journalists and influencers from the Center-South region, from the East and Center-East and the Permanent Secretariat for the Elimination of Malaria (SP/PALU).

There were around thirty men and women from the media and influencers who took part in this discussion meeting on the use and maintenance of the Long-lasting Impregnated Mosquito Net (LLIN).

According to the Permanent Secretary for the Elimination of Malaria (SP/PALU), Lallé Aissetou/Dial
lo, the discussions were fruitful because the participants really needed them.

‘The fight against malaria is not just the prerogative of health workers. Everyone can make their contribution. We are heading towards the elimination of malaria by 2030.

This is why we said to ourselves that the men and women of the media are well suited to give fair and true information to the population,’ she indicated.

Lallé Aissetou/Diallo deplored that the Ministry of Health did not occupy the time slots dedicated to them to talk about the fight against malaria.

The participants committed to carrying out information and awareness-raising actions in their respective localities.

For Guillaume Zongo of Pax de Manga radio, this is a great initiative to welcome.

‘Once back, it’s just about popularizing the information acquired, making people aware of the different prevention methods. We must move towards prevention and not curative treatment because it causes a lot of deaths,’ he explained.

The Central-East Regional Directo
r of Health, Dr Issa Guiré, congratulated the Permanent Secretariat and called on media men and women as well as influencers to redouble their efforts in order to achieve an end to malaria by the 2030 horizon.

‘This framework for exchanges between the program responsible for the elimination of malaria, journalists and influencers is an opportunity to get the message across in terms of prevention and fight against malaria,’ said Dr. Guiré.

The Central-East Regional Director of Health hoped that media men and women would become ambassadors who will help raise awareness among the entire population.

Dr Issa Guiré, urged the participants to ensure that each citizen becomes an ambassador in the fight against malaria because the elimination of malaria by 2030 is an objective of Burkina Faso, of the Ministry of Health and each of us.
