Bougouriba: A Hundred Plants Planted by the ‘Laboratoire Maman Dakpele’ Association

Bougouriba: As part of its annual activity program, the ‘Laboratoire Maman Dakpele’ Association organized a tree-planting session this Saturday in the municipal forest of Diebougou. More than a hundred plants, mainly medicinal but also food and ornamental, were planted in the presence of several volunteers from various backgrounds.

According to Burkina Information Agency, acacias, moringas, baobabs, and flamboyant trees are among the introduced species. These species are recognized for their therapeutic properties against stomach aches, constipation, and malaria, as well as for their nutritional and environmental benefits.

For the president of the association, Adama Derra, this activity is part of the national dynamic advocated by the highest authorities. “The objective of this activity is already to respond to the call of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who wants us to plant trees with strong medicinal values,” he explained.

The president of the association called on the authorities to take initiatives to prohibit the wandering of animals in the forest on the one hand and on the other hand the populations to refrain from cutting wood abusively and to plant more for a healthy environment in the region of Dj´r´.

Alongside the association’s members, a group of scout vacationers from the Gwiriko region actively participated in the operation. Their regional commissioner, Poda V. Firmin, emphasized the spirit of solidarity that guides their commitment. “As scouts, we contribute to the country’s development by doing good deeds. That’s why we came this morning to support this reforestation. The plants planted will bear fruit and contribute to the fight against the encroaching desert,” he said, congratulating the association.

Beyond reforestation, the “Laboratoire Maman Dakpele” association has already distinguished itself through several social actions, including food donations to two orphanages in the city and to internally displaced persons, as well as community meals shared with the poor and prisoners of the Diebougou remand and correctional center.

The association intends to expand its actions for the benefit of vulnerable communities with the support of goodwill.
