Bobo-dioulasso: The grand finale of the fourth edition of the Maracana Wedpharma football tournament was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, on the sports field of sector 32 of Bobo-Dioulasso, in a festive and popular atmosphere.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was placed under the patronage of the Governor of the Guiriko region, with joint sponsorship from the President of the Special Delegation of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso and Mr. Adama Guira, responsible for the development of men’s football at UFOA-B. The co-sponsorship was provided by El Hadj Abdoulaye Bara, along with promotion by Innocent Ouedraogo, CEO of WEDPHARMA. The 2025 edition showcased a sporting spectacle with TAKALI FC emerging victorious by defeating TOURBILLON FC with a score of one goal to zero.
The match was held in front of an enthusiastic crowd and numerous distinguished guests, highlighting the growing interest in this tournament. Promoter Innocent Ouedraogo praised the mobilization, emphasizing the tournament’s aim to bring young people together for enjoyment and fraternity. He noted the edition’s success through public enthusiasm and mentioned their solidarity efforts, which included donations to widows and orphans of the Defense and Security Forces, the VDP, internally displaced persons, and school kits for students.
Mr. Abraham Sondo, Secretary General of the Guiriko region, represented the Governor and expressed full support for the initiative. He highlighted the tournament’s reflection of concrete solidarity with the Defense and Security Forces and its role in promoting cohesion among the community while responding to calls for patriotic commitment from the highest authorities.
The second-place team, TOURBILLON FC, received 150,000 francs, along with a set of jerseys and a ball. TAKALI FC, the winning team, was awarded 250,000 francs, a set of jerseys, two balls, and the trophy. The Maracana WEDPHARMA tournament has now established itself as both a sporting and civic event, merging a passion for football with social actions to support vulnerable populations.
