Bassolma Bazié urges Burkinabè to return to traditions and customs to avoid shame

Minister of State Bassolma Bazié urged Burkinabè people to publicly practice practices linked to traditions and customs to avoid the shame caused by their rejection.

‘Today we give the impression that we are not like anyone else because we have sat on our traditions. We trampled them. We behaved differently,’ declared the Minister of State for the Civil Service, Bassolma Bazié, according to a video broadcast yesterday Wednesday by his communications service.

According to Mr. Bazié, who spoke on March 16, 2024 during the first promotional day for Ziro fruits, the Burkinabè will never know shame, provided they get to work, are sincere and respect customs and the traditions.

The minister indicated that this is the reason why President Ibrahim Traoré decreed May 15 as a day of homage to these ancestral values.

‘We want to take actions like that officially, because sometimes, when we see people returning to traditions, they return as if they were objects of shame. They hide to go there. If it’s not night, they
don’t go. And yet during the day, everyone gives the impression that these are places where one should not go. Now, at night, we all leave. This is precisely why I say that we have to stop lying to ourselves,’ explained Bassolma Bazié.

According to the minister, this day was established so that everyone at 8 a.m., at noon, at 2 p.m., at 3 p.m., at 4 p.m…. can go and bow at the grave of their grandfather in front of everyone.

‘If you have an old canary that your grandmother kept you with until you were a minister, don’t be afraid to take that canary down at 1 p.m., put it down and magnify it,’ added M .Bazié.

He asked the elders to ‘prepare’ the young people who are going to the front before their departure so that they can return safely and after their return, so that they do not lose control. For Bassolma Bazié, communities must be ready to confront the enemy and not only rely on the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).

‘One should not water their field, cultivate their field or harvest these products in
fear. (…) All of us who are here, from children to the elderly, everyone must consider themselves as VDP,’ he urged.

In addition, the Minister of State invited communities to have the courage to challenge and redirect anyone who makes a pact with the enemy.

‘It is up to each family to treat these traitors correctly, to take good care of them even on a cultural level so that security returns,’ says Bassolma Bazié.
