Banfora University Construction Site: IPEQ Gives Firm Instructions

Banfora: The Technical Coordinator of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education (IPEQ), Dr. Raymond Ouoba, conducted an on-site visit to the University of Banfora construction area to assess the progress of the ongoing project. The site is expected to significantly enhance the region’s higher education infrastructure with facilities including a 500-seat amphitheater, a teaching block accommodating 50 to 200 seats, laboratories, classrooms, tutorial rooms, and offices for faculty and administrative staff.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Ouoba identified delays in the project’s execution during his visit and issued firm directives to ICEC, the company in charge of construction. These directives include submitting an updated plan and providing a weekly progress schedule. The visit is part of a stringent monitoring and evaluation system for IPEQ projects, which involves various stakeholders such as permanent control missions, supervision missions, technical departments, beneficiaries, and regional mission managers.

The IPEQ’s action plan for higher education includes constructing and equipping 40 amphitheaters over five years, with 12 projects launched in January 2025. The University of Banfora is among these projects, marking a significant step in enhancing university infrastructure and improving student learning conditions.

Dr. Ouoba emphasized that IPEQ reflects the vision of Captain Ibrahim Traor©, the Head of State, to leverage education as a key driver for Burkina Faso’s socio-economic development. ICEC’s Managing Director, Jo«l Moryson, noted that construction commenced in late April 2025 and is currently in the foundation phase. Despite challenges posed by the rainy season, the company has reinforced its teams and ensured the availability of construction materials on-site. Moryson reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering a quality project by the September 30 deadline.
