Archery / SNC 2024: The South-West wants to ‘take back its place’

Recognized for their archery performances during the final phase of the 21st edition of the National Culture Week (SNC), qualified archers from the South-West region s They train hard in order to ‘glean all the medals’.

A few days before the 21st edition of National Culture Week (SNC Bobo 2024), archers from the South-West region qualified for the final phase are sharpening their arrows. There are a total of 11 archers in the region, including 7 in the Poni province.

On Wednesday April 18, 2024, it is 3 p.m. at the Gaoua regional stadium. The Poni archers qualified for the SNC, equipped with their quivers and bows, train hard.

Indeed, every afternoon, the archers meet to test their dexterity under the supervision of their supervisor, Jean-Philippe Hien, also president of the Association for the Promotion of Poni Archery (APTARC-P ).

‘This year, the region will win all the prizes. We’re not even going to leave a price. We will redouble our efforts to regain this leadership,’ assured Jean-Philippe Hien. Be
cause according to him, the South-West has always been in the lead during previous editions of the SNC.

But, he recalled, the Boucle du Mouhoun region had dethroned that of the South-West during the archery competition of the 20th edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) Bobo 2023.

For him, the Boucle du Mouhoun had only occupied the top step of the podium in the adult pool category, while the South-West had made a raid in the other categories.

Hinkoune Hien is ready to valiantly defend the colors of the South-West region. ‘We are training to bring the prices back,’ he added.

As a prelude to the cultural biennial, the Association for the Promotion of Archery in Poni (APTARC-P) also organized the Regional Archer’s Day to train selected archers. It aimed to promote this ancestral sport, offer a framework of expression to its enthusiasts and allow healthy emulation between practitioners, according to Mr. Hien.

As a reminder, the National Culture Week will be held from April 27 to May 4, 2024 in Bobo-Dioul
asso, under the theme: ‘Culture, historical memory and patriotic burst for a new Burkina Faso’.
