The August 4 stadium in Ouagadougou under renovation work and whose reception is planned for next August could be approved for category 4, the highest in force, announced on its Facebook page , the Burkinabè ministry in charge of sports.

The Ministry of Sports announced that ‘the Stade du 4 Août, which is in the midst of standardization work, welcomed experts in sports infrastructure this week. They are Mohamed Elshawarby, Andrew Culbert and Philippus Man.’

These three experts who have already invested in the stadium construction site, have worked to offer Burkina every chance for not only the standardization of the August 4 stadium, but above all its approval for category 4 which is the highest and most demanding of the categories. categories in force.

Concretely, the supervision and intervention of these experts concerned the following aspects:

-Lighting: this involves increasing the power of the stadium lighting, from 1200 to 2500 Lux. This level of lighting will not only meet the requirements for foo
tball matches but also for competitions in other Olympic sports. This aspect is the work of Philippus Man, an expert in sports infrastructure lighting. The increase in power to 2500 Lux aims to comply with the latest standards in sports infrastructure lighting.

-The lawn: for this aspect, expert Andrew Culbert was responsible for supervision. The work having started on the lawn, Mr. Culbert, with his expert eye, provided his point of view on the quality of the work and his advice on the different aspects to improve to offer every chance of the passage of the CAF and the FIFA. Note that the work on the lawn, which took time to start due to procedural issues, will ultimately be carried out by a Burkinabè company, which will be coached by an authorized British company.

-The installation of elevators:

To take into account the comments made by sports infrastructure experts and certain observers, providing the August 4 stadium with an elevator is more than necessary. Indeed, the experts on the site worked to mak
e this wish come true to complete the masterpiece. These elevators will be intended for the press, people with reduced mobility (PRM), VIPs and VVIPs.

This supervision finally concerned the state of implementation of the recommendations of the supervision of March 2024. Mohamed Elshawarby, who visited last month, was reassured of the implementation of the previous recommendations. This is to protect against possible surprises which could prevent the final validation of the work by international football authorities.
