The signing ceremony brought together the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, the AfDB Acting Vice President, Regional Development, Integration and Business Delivery, Yacine Fal, the Bank’s Country Manager for Morocco, Achraf Hassan Tarsim, the Director-General of the Moroccan National Office of Airports (ONDA), Habiba Laklalech, as well as the Director-General of Nador West Med, Mohamed Jamal Benjelloune, an AfDB statement said.
“These two operations share the same watchwords: attractiveness, competitiveness and integration,” Fal was quoted as saying. These projects “enshrine the strategic vision of HM King Mohammed VI which aims to transform Morocco into an attractive regional hub that creates value and employment,” she added.
The first loan agreement, amounting to over €34 million, complements a €75 million envelope already allocated in 2018 for the Rabat-Salé airport extension and modernization project.
The second agreement, which concerns additional financing of 57 million euros for the construction of Nador West Med port complex, completes an initial package of nearly 113 million euros granted in 2015.
