Ouagadougou: The Minister of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training has conveyed an inspiring message to students, parents, teachers, and educational staff as the new school year begins. The minister emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for Burkina Faso’s future and outlined five major goals to enhance the education system.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister’s first goal is the professionalization of learning. The emphasis is on equipping students with practical skills relevant to the job market, aligning with the vision of President Ibrahim Traore. The second focus is on fostering civic-mindedness and patriotism within the school environment. The minister highlighted the importance of discipline, commitment, and love of country as essential values for a prosperous society and stressed that these should be integral to school life.
The third area involves the operationalization of the School Council, which seeks to create a platform for dialogue and participatory governance. This framework will allow students, educators, parents, and partners to contribute to improving the school environment and enhancing the quality of education.
The fourth goal is the promotion of local culture through initiatives such as introducing national languages in secondary schools and encouraging the wearing of traditional fabrics like Faso Dan fani. This effort aims to instill national pride and cultural identity alongside academic learning.
Finally, the minister called for the promotion of a culture of excellence, urging students and educational stakeholders to strive for outstanding results in exams and competitions.
