Dedougou: On the occasion of the third anniversary of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration 2 (MPSR 2), the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC), provincial section of Mouhoun, organized a panel in Dedougou to discuss the achievements of the Popular Progressive Revolution led by Captain Ibrahim Traore. The event, held under the patronage of Adjara Sandrine Kientega/Ouedraogo, the Secretary General of the Bankui region, witnessed participation from administrative officials, community leaders, civil society actors, and local residents.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the gathering commenced with the performance of national anthems in Dioula and AES by graduates of patriotic immersion. The speakers emphasized that MPSR II has revitalized national governance through sovereignty, social justice, and citizen mobilization. The panelists recognized the ongoing security, economic, and social reforms and urged for heightened citizen engagement to consolidate the progress achieved.
Dieudonne Tougfo, President of the Special Delegation of Dedougou, highlighted the revolution’s alignment with the Sankarist ideal of 1984, noting significant reforms in the mining sector, creation of the Sahel States Alliance, agricultural initiatives, and enhanced security and diplomatic measures. Tougfo encouraged the populace to bolster their patriotic commitment to foster sovereign and sustainable development.
Roger T. Sawadogo, an economist-political scientist and strategy consultant, underscored the essential role of citizen monitoring and youth involvement in the revolution’s success. He identified seven key missions for these groups, including maintaining discipline, vigilance against infiltration, rumor management, and promoting revolution achievements. He remarked on the strategic shift initiated in September 2022, advocating for coordinated efforts between elites and citizens.
Political scientist Kouaman Ido highlighted social networks’ dual role in combating insecurity, as both mobilization tools and potential disinformation sources. He recommended strategic management through media education, platform accountability, and secure communication channels between citizens and defense forces. Ido called for prudent use of social media to ensure they serve national security and territorial reclamation.
The event concluded with the CNAVC’s provincial coordination of Mouhoun presenting certificates of recognition to individuals and organizations for their dedication to advancing the RPP’s objectives in the region. Special acknowledgment was given to the fighting forces for restoring normalcy across various localities. A delegation from the citizen watch of the province of Koosin also attended the panel in Dedougou.
