Namentenga Leads Registrations for Kuilse Regional Culture Week


Kaya: The Provincial Director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (DPCCAT) of Namentenga, Touwendinda Francis Sakande, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, reported on the status of those registered for the Kuilse Regional Culture Week scheduled for September 6 and 7, 2025, in Kaya under the theme “Youth Culture and Transmission of Social Values.” For the occasion, Mr. Sakande expressed satisfaction with the preparations and the enthusiasm of the registered troupes while indicating that the province of Namentenga does not intend to be a figurehead at this cultural event in Kaya.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the province of Namentenga alone registered 46 out of the 80 candidates registered in the categories of performing arts, plastic arts, culinary arts, and traditional sports from the Kuilse region. Notably, Namentenga achieved a perfect score in the traditional sports category, registering 26 out of 26 participants.

The different troupes, each according to their category, take turns practici
ng at the Boulsa community center under the guidance of the deputy for cultural affairs, Omar Ouedraogo, who shares his expertise with them to ensure Namentenga’s successful participation in the Bobo 2026 National Culture Week (SNC).

The head of the Kiagba Rakiswilgda troupe of Boulsa, Mrs. Marie Bibiane Sandouidi/Ouedraogo, noted that equipment is the major concern of the troupe, which is participating for the first time. The DPCCAT, Touwendinda Francis Sakande, said that among the registered troupes, only the Warba de Sini troupe is a regular on stage.
