Burkinabe Writer Yentema Rassa Doumi Debuts with Novel Highlighting Women’s Struggle


Ouagadougou: Burkinabe writer Yentema Rassa Doumi has introduced her first novel, “La Garde du Corps”, which brings to light the challenges faced by an orphan striving to make her mark in a male-dominated world. The narrative centers around Ange, a young orphan who, despite numerous obstacles and societal rejection, secures her place as a professional bodyguard. Her journey is marked by resilience and a search for love, making her a figure of admiration for her professionalism.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the novel delves into significant themes such as women’s professional emancipation, family ties, the parent-child relationship, spirituality, love, and solidarity. The book aims to shed light on these critical issues through the lens of Ange’s experiences and growth.



Yentema Rassa Doumi, born on October 5, 1995, has a background in communication and has worked as a columnist and presenter before venturing into literature. Her 231-page novel was published by Editions Ceprodif and is available for purchase at 7,000 CFA francs. It can be found in DIACFA, MERCURY, and JEUNESSE D’AFRIQUE bookstores, as well as at the YENKILMA telecentre in Fada N’Gourma.
