Ouagadougou: The Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, Colonel Kouagri Natama, received a delegation from the Royal Gendarmerie of Morocco, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Nabil Chakir, as part of a military cooperation initiative between Burkina Faso and Morocco. This visit, which took place at the Command Post of the Special Intervention Unit of the National Gendarmerie (USIGN), was facilitated by the Military Engineering Corps.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Moroccan delegation, consisting of five members, was part of a reciprocal visit following an earlier trip by the USIGN to the Royal Gendarmerie of Morocco. The primary aim of this visit was to explore the canine unit of the USIGN and to exchange experiences related to its operations. The delegation was introduced to the workings of the unit through a presentation led by Captain Sanpawend© Robert Compaor©, Commander of USIGN.
A documentary film showcased the various missions of the canine unit, emphasizing its role in counter-terrorism and the protection of people and property. The Moroccan visitors also observed a series of demonstrations conducted by the canine unit at the Camp Paspanga sports stadium, indicating the practical applications of the unit’s training and capabilities.
Lieutenant Colonel Nabil Chakir expressed satisfaction with the operations of the USIGN canine unit, highlighting the shared experiences with the Moroccan gendarmerie’s own canine division, established in 1975. He conveyed his gratitude for the hospitality received and documented his appreciation in the guestbook, noting the significance of this visit as a memorable and important event.
The visit concluded at the National Gendarmerie General Staff, where souvenirs were exchanged, symbolizing the ongoing cooperation and support between the two nations’ gendarmeries.
