Koubri: The special delegation of the rural commune of Koubri, through its land service, installed members of the Village Land Conciliation Commission (CCFV) and the Village Land Commission (CFV) of Koubri-Centre, aiming to strengthen the peaceful management of land disputes.
According to Burkina Information Agency, land conflicts have been a persistent issue affecting harmony and social cohesion in Burkina Faso. In response, the government has implemented several regulatory measures, with Decree No. 2012-263 establishing Village Land Conciliation Commissions (CCFV) being a significant step. The recent installation of these commissions reflects the government’s commitment to addressing these issues at the local level.
The installation ceremony took place in the village hall of the old town hall on Friday morning, August 8, 2025. The event was led by Mr. Denis Bationo and Mr. Blaise Niki¨ma from the town hall’s land department. Attendees included members of the Koubri-Centre Village Development Committee (CVD), customary and religious authorities, the municipal women’s coordination, the municipal youth council, and socio-professional organizations.
Mr. Nazaire Compaor©, president of the CVD of Koubri-Centre, welcomed participants and commended their patriotism. The meeting included round table presentations, after which Mr. Bationo provided context for the meeting and reviewed the committees’ composition and functions. The commissions are tasked with managing local land conflicts, promoting dialogue and consultation, seeking amicable solutions, and maintaining records.
Mr. Bationo introduced the members chosen for the CCFV and CFV, noting no objections from attendees, leading to the official installation of nine commissioners for the CCFV and seven for the CFV. He concluded by stating that members serve a three-year term, renewable once. The session ended positively with a group photo.
