Bam: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ou©draogo, called on Thursday for greater patriotic commitment, solidarity, and resilience, on the occasion of the monthly raising of the national flag at the Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade of Kongoussi, commanded by Chief Warrant Officer Achille Kouraogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, before the constituted bodies composed of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as the different components of the population, the High Commissioner of Bam, Karim Ou©draogo, welcomed the general mobilization around this republican ritual, symbol of unity, sovereignty, and common commitment. “The flag of Burkina Faso is not just a piece of fabric flapping in the wind. It is the memory of our struggles, a reflection of our dignity, and proof of our hard-won independence,” he said.
In a context of major security challenges, this solemn moment takes on, according to him, a particular significance. It becomes an act of resistance and resilience, a clear message that the Burkinabe people are standing, united and determined not to give in. Karim Ou©draogo paid a warm tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the resilient populations of Bam. He emphasized that despite adversity, the State remains present in the province.
“Every raising of the national flag is now an act of bravery, a cry of hope and sovereignty,” he insisted. The High Commissioner also spoke of the Progressive People’s Revolution (RPP), proclaimed on April 1, 2025, by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. He welcomed this dynamic of reclaiming national sovereignty, work, and unity. “Burkina Faso is speaking to Africa today and showing that an awakened and united people can overcome all forms of domination,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to Brigade Commander Achille Kouraogo and his men for the arrangements made for the success of this ceremony, while paying a heartfelt tribute to the elders, whom he described as “a compass and source of inspiration.” “May the revolution live on in our actions, our choices, our struggles! Long live Burkina Faso, free, sovereign and standing!” he concluded.
