Burkina Police Mutual Fund Convenes for Key Statutory Meetings


Ouagadougou: The chief of staff of the Minister of Security, Wendinmagd© Emmanuel Zongo, inaugurated the statutory general meetings for the National Police Mutual Insurance Company (MU-POL) for the years 2024 and 2025. These meetings are centered around the theme “Social protection in a context of security challenges: what inclusive mutualist strategy for the benefit of the police officer and his family?”



According to Burkina Information Agency, Thierry Tuina, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MU-POL, articulated the mutual insurance company’s mission to foster solidarity, health, mutual aid, and the social well-being of police officers. The scheme is accessible to all police officers, both retired and active, as well as civilian staff of the police headquarters and their families.



Tuina elaborated that MU-POL operates across 13 regions, 45 provinces, 125 health centers, 265 pharmacies and laboratories, 3 imaging centers, and 15 optical centers. The benefits provided by MU-POL include coverage for illness and accident risks, death and disability benefits, and up to 80% coverage of medical expenses. Registration for these services is available on the platform www.mupol.bf. As of December 31, 2024, over 1,100 members had availed themselves of medical service coverage.



Wendinmagd© Emmanuel Zongo, representing the Minister of Security, highlighted the importance of MU-POL within the national security context, which has been marked by solidarity and mutual aid between citizens and institutions. He noted that the Department of Security authorities supported the establishment of MU-POL, emphasizing its critical role given the current security challenges where police officers are actively engaged in frontline operations.



The agenda of these meetings includes the presentation of activities reports, review of the activities program, discussions on the operations of the mutual, and planning of future initiatives. Established in November 2022, MU-POL continues to be a pivotal resource for police officers and their families.
