600 Seedlings Planted in Kasso for 7th National Tree Day in Ziro

Ziro (nando): The 7th edition of National Tree Day (JNA), celebrated on a delayed basis this Saturday in Ziro province, mobilized authorities, populations, and partners around a reforestation operation on the site of the Kasso medicinal grove, in the commune of Sapouy. Six hundred plants of various species were planted there, under the banner of health and climate resilience.

According to Burkina Information Agency, armed with picks, shovels, and dabas, the inhabitants of Ziro province – administrative, customary and religious authorities, opinion leaders, young people, and women – gathered at the medicinal grove of Kasso to participate in the reforestation efforts. The High Commissioner of Ziro Province, Saba Zorom©, emphasized the importance of protecting the seedlings, highlighting that reforestation involves more than just planting-it requires ongoing care and monitoring.

In addition to the efforts in Kasso, the High Commissioner noted that every concession and public service in the city received plants, urging individuals to take responsibility for their care. Ziro province aims to plant over 75,000 plants during the 2025 campaign through individual and collective plantations, as well as in groves with medicinal and educational purposes.

The High Commissioner called on the presidents of the special delegations (PDS) of the six municipalities to ensure the survival of the newly planted seedlings, stressing the importance of these efforts for a better ecological future. The Promo Monde Rural Association (APMR), a partner in this edition, praised the citizen mobilization and commitment to the President of Faso’s call, expressing satisfaction with the day’s events.

The reforestation operation, supervised by the provincial Water and Forestry Department, focused on planting 600 medicinal species, aligning with the national theme: “Medicinal plants, sources of health and climate resilience for communities.” Through these efforts, Ziro province demonstrates its commitment to combating erosion, desertification, and pollution, contributing to environmental restoration.
