World Bank (WB) Country Director for the Maghreb and Malta Jesko Hentschel expressed his institution’s willingness to examine the project proposals that the Tunisian government intends to implement in line with its priorities for the next period.
Speaking at a meeting held on Monday with Minister of Economy and Planning Feryel Ouerghi Sabïi, Hentschel and the delegation accompanying him reviewed the main themes and fields that the two sides will look at over the next period, and which are in keeping with national priorities such as renewables and water, given the exacerbation of the phenomenon of climate change, food security, social security programmes and human development, as well as support for the private sector, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises.
The minister underlined in this regard, the need to finish the projects funded by the WB on time, voicing willingness to step up coordination with the ministerial departments in order to resolve the problems that are hampering the completion of
some of these projects.
Hentschel, for his part, highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the two sides and the need to further boost it.
During the meeting, which was attended by WB Resident Representative for Tunisia Alexandre Arrobbio, the two sides discussed financial cooperation and action programmes for 2024 as part of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) 2023-2027.
