In a statement, the prison administration denied the allegations made by the mother and sister of the inmate, who claimed that the latter “began a hunger strike of 48 hours” and that the prison’s employees have “sprayed his cell with toxic substances.”

The inmate, who has not announced a hunger strike, continued to take his meals normally, the same source added.

Regarding the spraying of toxic substances in the cell of the inmate, the prison administration called it “an unfounded allegation as disinfection operations with insect repellents are regularly conducted by the company in charge, after the inmates are removed from their cells under the supervision of the prison employees.

“No case of fainting was observed among the inmates after this operation, unlike the allegations of the family of the said prisoner,” the statement concluded.
