Third Morocco-Pacific Island States Forum Opens in Laayoune

Laayoune – The 3rd Morocco-Pacific Island States Forum (EIP) opened Thursday in Laayoune under the sign of consolidating cooperation ties implementing commitments made in this regard unifying voices and promoting shared prosperity.

The objectives of this important diplomatic event are to take stock of the current state and future prospects of relations between the Kingdom and the Pacific Island States and to highlight successful experiences in areas of strategic interest to the countries of this grouping.

It is also an opportunity to identify national priorities and lines of cooperation between Morocco and the Pacific Island States for sustainable development that are concrete innovative and achievable.

The Laayoune Forum which will be marked by the adoption of a final declaration is an appropriate framework for in-depth reflection on the challenges related to climate change the promotion of renewable energies and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are major national priorities for both Morocco and the Pacific countries.

The ministers of Foreign Affairs and senior officials as well as diplomats from Morocco and Pacific Island countries present in the capital of the Moroccan Sahara will deepen the foundations of active cooperation over the next three years particularly in the fields of education the environment responsible tourism that is concerned about the preservation of ecosystems transport and sustainable development.

Several agreements and memoranda of understanding will be signed on this occasion.
