The MEDays 2022 Grand Prix was awarded to president of Cape Verde, José Maria Pereira Neves, by chairman of the Amadeus Institute, Brahim Fassi Fihri. This ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, and Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri.

According to the initiators of this Grand Prix, Cape Verde is a “model of democratic development, stability and economic resilience, and a country fully committed to South-South cooperation”.

Over the past eight years, Cape Verde has consistently shown high level performances in development indices, ranking 7th in the Africa Attractiveness Index and 4th in the Political Stability Index in the 2022 ranking of the Amadeus Institute and Casablanca Finance City Authority.

In a statement to MAP TV channel M24, president Pereira Neves stressed the importance of the MEDays Forum for Africa.

“We should think strategically about the future and MEDays is a space for reflection and strategic analysis on Africa, on the challenges that we face now and on the process of transformation to ensure that the continent can cope with any crisis situation that we are experiencing today,” he stressed.

In this regard, Pereira Neves said that “Morocco is an inspiration for Africa,” praising the “very intelligent vision for the future” of the Kingdom.

For the Cape Verdean president, the Kingdom is an emerging country with which Cape Verde should work to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation with the entire African continent.
