Tangier-Med: Police Seize Nearly a Ton of Chira
Rabat – Police operating at the port of Tangier-Med seized early Thursday, in coordination with their customs counterparts, a quantity of 920 kg of chira on board a foreign-registered commercial car that was about to embark towards a European country.
Border control procedures and search operations resulted in the seizure of the drug shipment hidden in specially designed cavities in the roof of the car that was about to leave the port on board a boat bound for France, the national police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that the driver of the car (42 years old), a Moroccan national, was arrested.
The seized drug was handed to the customs administration and the arrested suspect has been held in police custody to complete the preliminary investigation conducted by the judicial police under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, according to the same source.
