Rabat – Chile reiterated on Monday its support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in order to reach a solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara.

“Chile recognizes the resolutions of the United Nations and supports the autonomy proposal presented by Morocco in order to reach a solution to the dispute over the Sahara,” said speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies Ivan Flores, in a statement to the press after his meeting in Rabat with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad Nasser Bourita.

“This is a very clear state policy that has not changed and will not change,” said the Chilean official, assuring that this position is reiterated by Chile at the level of international forums.
