Thus, the company will launch a new air route Seville-Tangier-Casablanca and reopen two routes that were operational before the pandemic with Tenerife and Porto, from Casablanca.
This new flight program was announced Thursday in Madrid at a press conference held in the presence of several Spanish and Moroccan economic operators, airline officials and Spanish employers, diplomats and representatives of tour operators.
Strengthening its position on tourist routes and as a major player in the sector, Royal Air Maroc will connect, as of December 4, Casablanca and Tangier to Seville.
This new service will meet the demand of Spanish and Moroccan tourists, as well as Moroccans living in Spain. Offered on days and times adapted to these customers, the route will operate every Friday and Sunday.
In addition, Royal Air Maroc will also reopen two routes suspended since the Covid 19 health crisis. The company will restore the direct air routes from Casablanca to Porto and Tenerife, which will be launched from December 9.
Royal Air Maroc will resume the Casablanca-Tenerife route with two frequencies per week (Thursday and Saturday).
The Portuguese market is also concerned by the strengthening of the flight program. Royal Air Maroc will restore, from December 9, 2022, the Casablanca-Porto route with two frequencies per week (Monday and Friday).
“With the resumption of traffic, Royal Air Maroc is committed to strengthening its offer to confirm its status as a reference player in Moroccan tourism and a major airline in our continent. We are thus mobilizing to consolidate our position in major tourist markets such as France and Spain and to support our anchoring in Africa, where our network now includes 27 destinations. Our commitment also continues with the Moroccan and African diasporas by launching and re-establishing direct routes that bring them closer to their mother countries,” says Hamid Addou, Royal Air Maroc CEO, quoted in a RAM press release.
On this occasion, collaboration agreements were signed between the RAM and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), the Iberian Association of Business Travel (IBTA), the Euro Africa Center and the Ibn Battouta Foundation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, stressed that the agreements signed consolidate the presence of RAM in Spain, strengthening air links between Morocco and Spain.
“Today, we have 50 weekly flights operated by the RAM, the leader of flights between Spain and Morocco, and soon two new lines will be inaugurated, Seville and Tenerife,” said Benyaich, adding that a total of 200 weekly flights are operated between Morocco and Spain, with great prospects for making the neighborhood between the two countries “a meeting point.”
In this context, the diplomat emphasized the major role of the RAM as a carrier on the African continent offering travelers the opportunity to reach about thirty destinations in Africa making the airport of Casablanca a hub to the continent, highlighting the “very ambitious” African solidarity cooperation policy for sustainable development conducted by HM King Mohammed VI.
In addition, Benyaich added that the launch of these new air routes between Morocco and Spain is also part of this new stage of “strategic, ambitious and sustainable and forward-looking” partnership, launched between the two countries, following the visit of the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, to Morocco last April at the invitation of HM the King.
For her part, Ilham Kazzini, RAM director of the Commercial Pole, said that Spain is one of the “the company’s main markets in Europe”, stating that the signing of several partnership agreements with the economic and associative fabric of Spain to serve RAM customers, the Moroccan and African community settled in Spain and Moroccan and Spanish businessmen aims to develop the commercial partnership between the company and all the economic and associative actors of Spain.
