Nazinon: A site of approximately 42 hectares was identified on Tuesday in Manga in the Nazinon region to house a future industrial zone, in accordance with the presidential initiative to provide each region of Burkina Faso with an industrial center. The prospecting mission was conducted by a joint team from the National Land Coordination Authority (ANCF) and the General Directorate for Industrial Development (DGDI), accompanied by local authorities and regional technical service agents in charge of land.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the site of approximately 42 hectares reserved for the future industrial zone is located between the Poecin districts of sector n°4 and Gago of sector n°5 of the city of Manga. Charles Dalla, head of the Studies and Litigation Department at ANCF, stated that it is included as an industrial zone in the master plan for development and urban planning, marking it as an asset.
During the mission’s visit, spontaneous settlements and fields were observed. Mr. Dalla believes that consensual solutions will be found through planned awareness-raising missions and the existing conciliation procedure. Berenger Bihoun, president of the Manga municipal special delegation, assured that discussions will be organized to resolve misunderstandings and encourage support for the project. He emphasized that the creation of the industrial zone presents a significant opportunity for Manga and the country. He also mentioned the possibility of expanding the site in consultation with local stakeholders.
Djiswene Roger Ramde, Director General of Industrial Development, reiterated that the development of the site will involve several stages, including physical security, land release, and development and servicing. The objective is to have “clean and suitable” sites to accommodate new industrial units.
Guillaume Dofini, regional director of Industry and Commerce of Nazinon, welcomed the creation of the industrial zone, highlighting the region’s potential resources such as sesame, citrus fruits, livestock, and its strategic position bordering Ghana. Before the field visit, the ANCF and DGDI mission had discussions with regional technical services and the special municipal delegation regarding the project’s implementation modalities.
