Held in collaboration with Malmö city Council, the ceremony honored the graduates of the 2022 class, representing 53 countries, including Moroccan Latifa Oumouzoune, who obtained a Master’s degree in Maritime Affairs, a training designed to meet the real needs of the maritime industry.

On this occasion, Medrek held talks with Chancellor of the University and Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Kitack Lim, and with president of the University, Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, on ways to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom, in terms of higher education and training in the field of maritime and port, in Morocco and Africa in general.

The talks focused on revitalizing the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding of Cooperation between the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM) and the World Maritime University, signed in 2019.

In addition, the Ambassador stressed the credibility enjoyed by the Kingdom’s maritime strategy, initiated by HM King Mohammed VI. “Sitting for 15 terms in the Council of the International Maritime Organization, the Kingdom makes a substantial contribution to the mission of the IMO, of which it is a member since 1962,” he said.

Recalling that Morocco is a maritime nation par excellence by its geostrategic position, located at the crossroads of international maritime routes, Medrek said that Morocco has always been committed to maritime safety, environmental protection and training of professionals in the field.
