Main Measures Taken in Morocco to Fight Spread of Novel Coronavirus

Rabat – Here are the main measures that marked the two weeks of the state of health emergency decreed by Morocco to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19):

– 20 March 2020: Morocco declared a state of public health emergency, a key decision aimed at curbing the spread of the virus in the country.

-21 March 2020: Morocco has limited the movement of people by suspending means of transport and travel between cities.

– From 20 March: disinfection and sterilisation operations were carried out in all Moroccan cities, enabling the protection of citizens in public spaces from any risk of contamination.

– Employees affiliated to the national social security Fund (CNSS), will benefit from a monthly fixed allowance of MAD 2,000 net, family allowances and compulsory health Insurance (AMO) services.

– Formal and informal sector employees impacted by this situation will receive substantive assistance from the covid-19 special management Fund.

– Setting up of a moratorium on the repayment of bank loans and leases until 30 June without payment of fees or penalties.

– Activation of an additional operating credit line granted by the banks and guaranteed by the central guarantee Fund (CCG).

– Postponement of the filing of tax returns until the end of June with a suspension of tax inspections until June 30, 2020 for companies with annual revenues in 2019 of less than MAD20 million.

– Strong mobilization of the department of National Education and Higher Education for the success of distance learning.

– Free access for students to the different digital platforms.

– HM King Mohammed VI calls on military medicine by insisting on the mobilization of all its components, whether technical or human, to deal with this pandemic.

– Launch of solidarity operations by the national network of associations, in close coordination with the public authorities, to help needy families in the various cities of the Kingdom.

– Strong contribution of all national and international actors to the special Fund for the management of the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), set up on the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI.
