Ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the African Union (AU) and the UNECA, who took part on November 14-15 in Durban, South Africa, in the second annual joint Retreat between the Peace and Security Council (PSC) and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) underlined the importance of the triptych Local Governance, Peace, Security and Development.
Arrouchi, who is leading the Moroccan delegation at this meeting, recalled in this context the role of local authorities in promoting good governance in Africa.
The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted the positive impact of this triptych on peace and stability and development in the continent.
For their part, the members of the PSC and APRM reiterated the key role of the triptych Local Governance, Peace, Security and Development in Africa in strengthening the participation of local governments in Africa, as a lever for effective regional and continental integration.
Organized to accelerate the achievement of the goals and principles of the African Union, this second annual joint PSC-APRM Retreat focused on the promotion of peace, security and stability on the African continent, the promotion and respect for democratic principles and institutions, human rights, the rule of law, popular participation and good governance, as well as the realization of the 2063 AU’s Agenda.
