Jiser launches call for applications for young visual artists in Spain, Tunisia and Algeria

Jisr or bridge, a Barcelona-based non-profit civil society organisation, launched under its creative residencies programme 2024/2025 a call for applications for a creative residency intended for young visual artists and cultural actors in Spain, Tunisia and Algeria.

Six young artists from the three target countries will be selected as well as three local cultural actors designated as mediators and coordinators of the public programme. The deadline for submitting applications is July 15.

Jiser seeks to promote artistic creation and the use of art as a tool of social transformation in the Mediterranean space through shared activities which foster exchange and rapprochement between the various artistic and cultural realities.

Artists will be called upon to conduct a two-month plastic research and experimentation in one of these cities: Sousse (October – December 2024), Barcelona (January – February 2025) and Algiers (April – June 2025) where they will be assisted by a curator and a local mediator .

This resi
dency is organised in collaboration with La Galerie d’art ElBirou in Sousse, Hangar (Barcelona) and Box24 and Chambre Claire in Algeria.

Launched in 2010, artistic residencies targeted in a first stage the cities of Tunis (2010) and Barcelona (2014) before including Algiers in 2016.
