Importance of Launching Africa-Latin America Parliamentary Forum Highlighted in Rabat

Rabat – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, speaker of the House of Advisors, Hakim Benchamach, and speaker of the Latin American Parliament, Jorge Pizarro Esteban, held on Wednesday in Rabat, a working session devoted to ways of launching the Africa-Latin America Parliamentary Forum.

The parties agreed to set up an administrative unit to facilitate and intensify contacts between the parliaments of the Forum, and to organize a colloquium to be attended by the speakers of the Parliaments of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss the common challenges facing the countries of the two continents.

Speaking on this occasion, Malki highlighted the efforts being made to bring to fruition this essential project aimed at building new links between the two continents, indicating that this initiative is at an advanced stage, which confirms the seriousness of all stakeholders.

For his part, Benchamach commended the strong relations between Morocco and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, which are gradually evolving towards a solid partnership, explaining that the purpose of this meeting is to discuss developments in the implementation of an initiative that is of paramount importance.

Echoing him, speaker of the Latin American Parliament stressed the importance of promoting the Forum in a sustainable manner, noting the great progress made in relations between the parliaments of the two continents “despite the difficulties encountered by some countries”.

To this end, he called for the establishment of a political dialogue and the acceleration of the launching of the Forum.
