Rabat – The state of health emergency was enforced on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (GMT +1) and until further notice, in accordance with the decision taken on Thursday to preserve the health and security of the Moroccan society.

A statement from the Interior Ministry had said that movement will be conditioned by obtaining an exceptional authorization from the authorities. This document will make it possible to get to work for open administrations and establishments, including companies, factories, agricultural work, commercial facilities related to the daily life of citizens, pharmacies, banking and financial sectors, hydrocarbon supply stations, clinics and medical facilities, agencies of telecommunications companies, essential liberal professions and stores for the sale of hygiene products.

The ministry specified that the local authorities will take care of the distribution of this document to the houses of citizens, which means that it is not necessary to go to the administrations to obtain it, adding that the said exceptional authorization is also available on the website: “”.

This authorization concerns exclusively adults, who can also ensure the circulation of children under their responsibility in case of extreme necessity and within the limits of the already announced exceptions, insisted the same source.

The ministry also underlined that the authorization for exceptional movement remains valid until the end of the “state of health emergency”, specifying that it is enough to check the box of the reasons for going out of home, if necessary.

The ministry noted that the document handed by officials in the public and private sectors to those concerned by work during the period of health emergency is enough to go exclusively to workplaces, without resorting to the exceptional authorization issued by local authorities.

While warning that citizens are required to comply with these mandatory measures under penalty of sanctions provided for in the Criminal Code, the ministry said that the local authorities, the Public Forces, Police Services, Royal Gendarmerie and Auxiliary Forces will ensure the application of control measures firmly and responsibly against anyone on the public space.
