Covid-19: 1,191 New Confirmed Cases and 1,327 Recoveries in 24 Hours (Ministry)

Rabat – One thousand one hundred and ninety-one (1,191) new cases of infection with the coronavirus (Covid-19) and 1,327 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

 

This new figure brings to 63,781 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 48,922 that of people who fully recovered, i.e. a recovery rate of 76.7%, said the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.

The death toll rose to 1,184 with 43 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours: 16 in Casablanca-Setta (all in Casablanca), 10 in Marrakech-Safi (7 in Marrakech, 1 in Safi, 1 in Chichaoua and 1 in Essaouira), 6 in Fez-Meknès (2 in Fez, 2 in Meknes, 1 in Ifrane and 1 in Boulemane), 5 in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (4 in Tangier and 1 in Tétouan), 3 in Darâa-Tafilalet (1 in Errachidia, 1 in Midelt and 1 in Tinghir), 2 in Rabat-Salé Kenitra (1 Rabat and 1 in Témara) and 1 death in Souss-Massa (in Taroudant), he added, noting that the case fatality rate is 1.9%.

The cumulative incidence rate is 175.6/100,000 inhabitants, he said, noting that in the last 24 hours, out of 100,000 inhabitants, 3 people have been infected.

Regarding active cases, Mrabet noted that 13,675 people are currently under treatment.

On the geographical distribution, the official said that 420 cases were identified in the region of Casablanca-Settat, 193 in Marrakech-Safi, 135 in Fez-Meknès, 114 in Draâ-Tafilalet, 113 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, 84 in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, 53 in Souss-Massa, 26 in the eastern region, 24 in Béni Mellal-Khénifra, 17 in Gulmim-Oued Noun, 9 in Dakhla-Oued Dahab and 3 in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra.

The number of cases excluded after negative test results amounts to 20,891, for a total of 1,892,635, he noted.

Regarding people in critical condition, Mrabet reported 198 cases admitted to intensive care units, including 43 intubated people.
